The CSCS mock test 2025 below will cover most of the health and safety topics you’ll need to know to pass your test. The real CSCS operatives test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions which you must complete in 45 minutes. There will be no time limit for this full CSCS practice test, so you can take your time and go through each question after you’ve submitted your answers.
As with the real test, some questions will require multiple answers, so please ensure you read through the question requirements carefully before submitting your answers. If you have questions about the CSCS test, please ask them below.

1. Are the questions in this CSCS mock test the same as the real test?
All the questions in the CSCS mock test above are identical to the real test questions. For copyright reasons, the questions are worded slightly differently but the question idea and answers remain exactly the same.
2. How many questions are there in the CSCS operatives test?
Like the practice CSCS test above, there are 50 multiple-choice questions in total. 38 of these will be multiple-choice questions, with the remaining 12 being behavioural case study questions. See examples of the behavioural case study questions here.
3. What is the pass mark for the CSCS operatives test?
The pass mark for the CSCS operatives test is 45 out of 50. This equates to a 90% pass rate.
4. What topics are covered in the CSCS operatives test?
The CSCS operatives test covers 16 various topics, including health and safety, manual handling, fire extinguishers, and working at height. See the full list of topics here.
5. How long is the CSCS test?
You’ll have 45 minutes to complete the CSCS operatives test. (We have not added a timer to the CSCS mock exam above, this was done to allow you to go over your questions and answers as long as you need).
6. Is the CSCS test hard or is it an easy common sense test?
The CSCS test is not easy. Some people might say that it’s common sense, but it isn’t. The only way to pass is to revise and practice for the test.
7. What do I need to bring to sit the CSCS operatives test?
You will need to bring your valid CSCS card if you have one and a form of identification, such as a passport or driving licence. You should receive a list of what you’re required to bring when you book your test.
8. How long do I have to wait for my CSCS test results?
Your results will be available immediately after you have finished the test. It’s similar to if you’ve done the driving theory test.
9. What if I fail the CSCS operatives test?
If you fail the CSCS operatives test, you will be able to retake the test after 14 days. You can retake the test as many times as you need to until you pass.
10. What happens if I pass the CSCS operatives test?
Once you have passed the CSCS operatives test, you will be able to apply for your CSCS card which will be valid for 5 years. You will then need to renew your card every 5 years to keep it valid.
11. What is the purpose of the CSCS test?
The CSCS test is used to ensure that all construction workers have a basic knowledge of health and safety on construction sites. It helps improve overall safety and reduce accidents in the workplace.
12. Who needs to take the CSCS test?
Anyone who works on a construction site or desires to work in the construction industry needs to take the CSCS test. This includes both site workers and management-level employees.
13. Is it mandatory to have a CSCS card?
While it is not a legal requirement to have a CSCS card in order to work on a construction site, many contractors and employers require their workers to hold a valid card as proof of their skills and qualifications.

The mock test is great at building your confidence and knowledge you can learn so much by constantly doing it and it is free 49/50 my test is in a couple of weeks so I will keep on doing it and hopefully passed

Just got 48 out if 50 right but when reviewing my answers, it seems that I’ve only got one question wrong so make sure you check your answers carefully. That’s my only quibble . Apart from that, it’s a very good revision and mock test website.

Have to disagree. If you can maintain the escape route do this:
1st – vital…raise the alarm 1st…break glass etc
2nd – you will hopefully know the category of fire and chose the appropriate extinguisher. Hence the knowledge on types and uses. You can either help, endanger yourself or worsen fire… or destroy equipment if you use wrong appliance.
A “little knowledge” worry is why you have training. To increase your Knowledge.
3rd – If you are losing the battle against the fire – do not give it your back. exit the zone. Isolate it if you can – starve it.
I could have got 48 out of the 50 questions correct but just like someone else I didn’t read the questions quite as well as I should have. My own fault. Best advice READ THE QUESTIONS CAREFULLY. The answer are relatively obvious. This site is very useful

Thanks for a great site. Did a few mock tests to brush up and got 50/50 on the actual CITB test.
Many of the questions on the actual test I’d seen on a mock test, it’s just a bit of knowledge on construction safety techniques e.g. deep excavations, equipment (what to do if something fails or is damaged) how to keep yourself and others safe, a few signs, a few PPE questions, a little bit on voltage colour coding, LPG and what to do in the event of an emergency situation.
I have no construction experience or skills, just needed the card to put signs up.

read every question twice and take your time ..when finished always go back over your answers and you will be fine ..hope this helps in some way.

Pass rate is 45 and above.
Tip – – read all questions slowly, 2 or 3 times if need be, you wont run out of time, 45 mins to answer 50 questions.

Make sure you read the question then re-read it as a few questions might trip you up if you rush. A very helpful tool.
this mock test is spot on all the questions are the same as an official test just word different.
if you cant pass this test you shouldn’t be on site hahaha.

100 people walking in B&Q or Screwfix to buy a battery drill, recep saw, angle grinder , battery skill saw, you name it.. 100 out of 100 choose the battery one over the corded one because it’s easier to handle, work with and carry. However, the writers of CITB test questions want us to remember that we choose battery powered tools because we’re afraid of electric shock 🙂 It’s just logical fallacy..

Doing the test in a few days. Only been in construction a year (although I’m mainly office based) really stressing…. just can’t remember the different types of fire extinguishers plus some risks from tools, cement etc! Keep doing the tests and best was 46! ;(

46 / 50. One thing I did notice is there are now 6-types of fire extinguisher (there used to be 3). Would be worthwhile providing site workers with credit card sized information cards that inform you of the extinguisher / colour / class fires and what the fire class relates too. Both sides of the card could be utilised. Food for thought…..
